Day 20 – 1 February 2025
As the crescent moon heralds the month of February, volunteers and participants alike look forward with great anticipation to the series of events planned at Yogadham beginning with the third yoga retreat Pranayama and Meditation from 1 – 4 February. The much-awaited Shahi Snan will be held on 3 February on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, celebrating the arrival of Spring and rejuvenation after the harsh Winter, and offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati for enlightenment and wisdom.
With the constant flux of participants and visitors entering and leaving the portals of Yogadham, teams of dedicated volunteers have ensured the daily maintenance of the campus in alignment with sustainable initiatives envisaged by the My Bhoomi movement of The Satsang Foundation:
- Waste Segregation & Recycling
Collection and segregation of dry and wet waste is a vital component of the My Bhoomi sustainable practices at Yogadham. With the use of compostable My Bhoomi bags, much of the waste that can’t be recycled is disposed of safely and segregated from recyclable waste.
- Plastic Waste Management
Large bins at designated points throughout the campus are available for the safe disposal and management of plastic waste which is then meticulously segregated into seven types before being sent for recycling.
- Composting of Floral Offerings
Flowers offered at the Yogadham shrine are collected separately and composted, transforming these sacred offerings into nourishment for the earth.
- Water Filling Stations
Water filling stations are available at designated spots on the campus, eliminating single-use plastic bottles and encouraging the use of refillable steel bottles.
These best practices have not only contributed to the cleanliness of the Yogadham campus but also presented an opportunity for participants to work in unison with My Bhoomi volunteers, offering shramdaan as part of their sadhana during their sojourn at Yogadham.
