19 eventful days in January come to a close at Yogadham

Day 19 – 31 January 2025

13 to 31 January, 19 eventful days — what a journey it has been! 31 January morning began with the deep resonance of mantras, the warmth of the morning aarti, and silent meditation with Sri M. There was a sense of completion after the conclusion of the Triveni Shibir yet also a quiet understanding that the next 28 days of February would unveil many more memorable moments, as everyone pauses before they embark on the next step on the path.

As the day unfolded, a few participants slowly started leaving, stepping out of the space that had held them in stillness, introspection, and sadhana for days. But no one left empty-handed. They carried with them not just memories, but Kriya practices to deepen their journey, the company of fellow seekers who now felt like family, keeping the spirit of the retreat alive in their daily lives.

In the evening, Sri M met Sri Avdeshananda Giri, the Acharya who initiates the Mahamandaleshwars of the Juna Akhada, a quiet meeting of wisdom and shared understanding. He also concluded his two-day talk on the Upanishads, part of the Advaitamritam series at Shankaracharya Math’s Ekatma Dham.  Bringing their timeless wisdom into today’s world, Sri M focused on the Mandukya Upanishad, unraveling the four states of consciousness—Jagrat (waking), Swapna (dream), Sushupti (deep sleep), and Turiya (the ultimate state beyond). As he spoke, the ancient words didn’t feel like philosophy from another time; they felt real, immediate, something to be lived and experienced. The session ended with the entire gathering chanting ‘Om’ together—one sound, one vibration, one moment of unity.

And just like that, the month of January came to a close – with days of deep practice, silent reflection, the sounds of classical music and naada, the blessings of the Ganga, nourishing food, a shared journey, and the indescribable grace of the Guru’s presence.

For the participants of the January retreats, the real work begins now—bringing all that was learned, absorbed, and experienced into everyday life. One breath, one step, one Om at a time.
